Puppies raised underfoot in our home, socialized from day one
True harlequin patterning, correct conformation, and sound temperament
Our Program
At Royal Great Danes, we are dedicated to producing Harlequin Great Danes of exceptional quality, health, and temperament. Nestled in the beautiful Sonoran Desert of Rio Verde, Arizona, our dogs are raised as cherished members of our family — not kenneled animals.
Every breeding decision is guided by health clearances, breed standard adherence, and the goal of placing gentle, confident companions into loving homes. We stand behind every puppy we produce, offering lifetime breeder support.

The Breed
One of the world's most recognizable breeds, the Great Dane has a rich history spanning centuries. Known as the "Apollo of Dogs," these gentle giants combine regal elegance with a warm, devoted temperament.
3,000 BC
Images resembling Great Danes appear on Egyptian monuments dating back to 3,000 BC and on Greek money from 36 BC. Ancestors of the breed were likely brought to Europe by Assyrian traders.
16th Century
German nobility bred large, powerful dogs to hunt wild boar — one of the most dangerous game animals in Europe. These "Boarhounds" were prized for their strength, courage, and speed.
1876
In 1876, the Great Dane was declared the national dog of Germany. German breeders refined the breed's temperament, producing the gentle, friendly giant we know today.
1887
The Great Dane Club of America was founded in 1889, making it one of the oldest breed clubs in the United States. The breed quickly gained popularity for its imposing size and gentle nature.
